The first event of the year at Cadiou Industrie is always the famous Galette des Rois - a delicious epiphany cake! All our employees are invited for a delicious piece of cake, made locally by the bakery in Locronan - and the kings and queens of the day are chosen.
A blood drive is organised once a year to help hospitals in the West of France. The French Blood Bank comes directly to us during the employees’ working hours, to make scheduling easier and get as many donations as possible. Open to anyone over 18.
As part of the Telethon, and in partnership with Quimper’s University Institute of Technology and Kemp’5, Cadiou Industrie built up a team and took part in a futsal tournament (indoor football). Given the current sanitary conditions, the company has not been able to take part recently, but will try to repeat the experience soon!
Something for children and adults alike to look forward to: fresh crêpes are handed out in the workshops and offices! What a lovely, warm surprise in such a cold month!
Several times a year, lucky draws are organised with cinema tickets up for grabs - some are even for exclusive previews. This operation is in partnership with the Douarnenez Rotary Club. Whenever possible, theatre tickets are also added to the mix.
Every year, new actions are implemented in honour of this special day. Some examples, you ask? Firstly, a document presenting the meaning of this day and listing useful contacts was drawn up, and flowers were distributed to each woman working for the company.
Whenever possible, Cadiou employees take part in beach clean-up operations. This occurred 3 or 4 times last year on nearby beaches (we have lots to choose from!). These actions are planned jointly with local town halls - some of whom have members also working within the company. They generally happen on Saturday mornings, and a picnic is provided after.
Pôle Emploi (French unemployment office) is a key stakeholder in the company’s recruitment strategy. As such, interventions are regularly organised with this France-wide agency: either the company is asked to present its operations, trades and potential jobs externally during meetings held in their offices, or Pôle Emploi comes to our premises to give tour to potential applicants.
The time has come for Easter egg hunts! Several options have already been tested in the past: giving each employee a little bag of chocolates, or organising a huge egg hunt in the workshops and offices to give everyone’s day-to-day routine a chocolate twist!
Maison Cadiou is a committed company, with recruitment being a cornerstone to its operations. Pôle Emploi namely organises an Employment Rally, which is where many new talents are found. The event consists in having small groups of job-seekers tour 5 different companies over several half-days.
To celebrate the arrival of spring time, but also to highlight Labour Day, 3 sprigs of lily of the valley (an iconic seasonal flower) are gifted to each employee.
Every year, Cadiou Industrie applies for the ChooseMyCompany – HappyAtWork label. This label is achieved thanks to scores given by staff - and represents quality of life at work, something the company wishes to value. To obtain this label, questionnaires are sent to employees to gather their opinions and feedback.
The Finistère area has a few delicious surprises up its sleeve! They are distributed now and again among staff, depending on the season. In June, what better than strawberries?! Sweet, juicy and produced locally - just what you need for an energy boost during a long day!
On June 21, music resounds everywhere you go! In the workshops, offices, break rooms...all around! There is nothing quite like it to put people in a good mood...let’s move!
Fruit is not the only local speciality: kouign-amann, Breton cake, Breton galettes, shortbread biscuits and other delicious pastries are part of the local gastronomy. When requested and if possible, pains au chocolat and/or croissants are also brought in, for everyone’s delight!
If pains au chocolat and croissants were not quite enough, why not try a chouquette?! These sweet, crispy bite-sized choux pastries are perfect for easing the atmosphere during technical breaks...
July is a time for sunshine, hot summer days, beaches or even holidays for some...For those not on holiday, life at the workshop can become much more strenuous when the temperatures rise, in which case there is just one solution: to cool down! What better than an ice cream to do so?! One or two scoops?
Theatre festival organised by an association in the town of Cast, “Cast sur scène” (Cast on stage), generally over the first or second weekend of July. Cadiou Industrie is one of the event’s partners, and offers a chance to win tickets to go and enjoy the nearby shows.
The staff’s children are invited to discover what goes on behind the scenes, where their parents work. Thay way, they can picture their parents’ environment and put faces to names during conversations at home. They can also see with their own eyes what their parents do all day, as it is not always easy to understand for smaller children. Generally, the event is held over half a day, usually on Wednesdays (as there is no school, most children can attend), and a big tour of the workshops is organised.
Created by the association Rock and Cheese Atao, the From Fest is a festival combining good cheese and good music. It is held in Quéménéven, just East of Locronan, the last weekend of August. The company subsidizes the festival, which means staff can win tickets to this rustic event!
In addition to its involvement with Pôle Emploi and in the “Employment Rally”, Cadiou Industrie strives to regularly take part in specific events throughout the year: visiting schools, going to trade fairs and job-dating events, etc. This is the perfect occasion for introducing the company’s various trades, and vacant jobs.
The Colour Run is a 5-kilometre race, on foot, between the woods in Nevet and Locronan - no pressure, no stopwatch. Complete freedom! The only requirement is to be fully dressed in white, so that by the end of the race everyone has become a stunning rainbow of colours! Inspired by India’s “Holi Festival”, this race is for staff only, and all employees and invited to join in.
Treasure hunt, dress-up...and good spirits all around! The purpose of this annual event is for employees working in companies within the network to meet up, exchange and get the know the reality behind the “Produced in Brittany” seal: immense and multi-faceted know-how showcased by 110,000 people throughout Brittany. This friendly competition now gathers over 500 people every year, for a whole day. It sets up shop in a different place in Brittany every year, offering employees an all-new experience every time.
Every year, various associations organise events throughout the month of October to raise awareness about breast cancer, screening options, available treatment and its consequences. To take part in this nation-wide effort, you can register to participate in Quimper’s long-distance race.
Round tables and conferences revolving around the many changes occurring in companies at the moment. Topics such as innovation, HR, management, and many more are broached. They unite workers around strategic challenges known to companies - namely the issue of change management and how to adapt to it.
Just like in September, the company pursues its recruitment process through various events such as student fairs - to communicate with potential work-study trainees / interns -, or job dating events and interventions by temporary work agencies for professional contracts (fixed-term, permanent, interim work).
Every year, the company pays a visit to first-year “Supporting Managerial Actions” students at the Sainte-Thérèse secondary school in Quimper. The company’s CSR and HR guidelines are presented. These students are potential new recruits, so it is important to inform them of the managerial techniques implemented, and how things work in private companies.
A central themes runs throughout the month of November. Support is available for people wishing to stop smoking: they can be helped by the company’s nurse. This requires certain forms of support, the distribution of a “how to stop smoking” kit, support groups and shared experiences between people trying to quit.
During the winter months, vaccination schemes are launched to fight against illnesses such as the flu.
As part of the Innovation Trophies, a big afternoon Christmas party is organised to congratulate participants and share feedback about the various topics brought forward by the teams. As the event takes place shortly before Christmas, employees can make the most of this celebration to launch the festive season...
Cadiou boosts and rewards its staff’s inventiveness by organising Initiative Trophies. In teams of 3 - a mix of office and workshop workers - the staff are required to jointly come up with feasible innovations for the company. These ideas can also be to improve the work setting, tools or production in the workshops. Winners will be awarded a prize, and most importantly, will see their project become a reality - if possible the following year. An example, I hear you ask? Superimposing cut sheet metal when creating new decorative effects for gates, in 2020.
In December and/or January, the company organises donation drives to support various causes close to Cadiou’s heart, mostly food banks such as La Banque Alimentaire, Les Restos du Coeur and Le Secours Populaire. Toys are also collected, in addition to food, to then be distributed to other associations.
